Kenya has seen an increase in terror related activities in the country since the country sent troops in 2011 to aid in the fight against Al-Shabaab in Somalia.
Last year, Al-Shabaab escalated their attack killing at least 148 people in a university. This university was reopened on Monday nine months after the closure. The police have beefed up security in the university.
